We used to do takeoffs with a scale rule and a pencil which was very time consuming and now we have a much quicker takeoff time. We only spend around 1 – 2 hours doing takeoffs with Ensign’s software and before it used to take us about 5 or 6 hours.

The speed at which you can do complicated tenders is amazing, and one of the cool things is the repeat key for duplication of branches.

You really need to get onto the system ASAP. The job is simply more difficult without Ensign and the software is real value for money given the time you are saving.

All that time saved has allowed us to concentrate on the jobs that we have won. We can give the client more time and fully concentrate on running the projects instead of wasting time with printing drawings and measuring up with a scale rule.

The support is great, even out of hours, and the software is really easy to use.

It’s a no brainer for me. I couldn’t do without it now.

Ensign’s software really has made all the difference to us. Time saving is the biggest advantage for us by far and it’s probably saved us about 80% of the time we used to spend before, and that means we can tender all of the jobs we want to go for instead of only 50% like we did before, and of course, that considerably increases our chances of winning more jobs!

We also used to have to print reams and reams of paper, and could spend the best part of a day just printing off all the drawings. We’d have problems where our printer wasn’t working and then we’d either have to have the expense of going to an outside printer to get the drawings done or we wouldn’t be able to do the job at all. Everything was messy with drawings everywhere, and the chance of losing sheets.

Even when we did have the drawings ready we could end up guessing the finer details on the drawings or missing bits and everything just took far too long, to the point that we sometimes missed deadlines.

We knew there had to be an easier way and when we got the Ensign software the difference was amazing. I have more free time and a better quality of life, because I can do more work than before and still get home at a reasonable time.

Everything is neat, storage is easy, it’s more accurate. We can revert back to any takeoff or estimate and order materials from the system. We’re not constantly phoning the suppliers for prices all the time, or wasting time waiting for the suppliers to get back to us, and the after sales care is fantastic. If we have any problems or queries, we just phone up and things will be rectified immediately.

We don’t feel like we’re living in the dark ages now and it’s so much better than doing things by the orthodox method.

It’s a no brainer for me. I couldn’t do without it now.

Ensign has become part of the fabric of our business. Before we started using their software, it was a long drawn out, time consuming and error prone process. We’d have to write everything down and calculate things by hand and it took hours.

Now we use the software and it makes the day to day running of our business so much easier.

The software has a good range of reports and we get to submit more quotes than ever before. We save so much time because a lot of other companies use Ensign’s software so it’s very compatible. Other companies can do takeoffs and send them over, and we can price everything really quickly and edit our schedules of rates with the system. Our PDF takeoffs are much quicker and more accurate, too, and the software is so easy to use.

We’d recommend the software. I don’t know how people can get by without the Ensign system.

Before I started using the Ensign Electrical Estimating Software I used what I now consider a really primitive form of estimating - basically my own made up Excel Spreadsheets and estimating reference books. As my business has gradually grown in size these old ways just didn't work anymore as the larger you get the more detailed the tendering process becomes. I found that I was no longer able to keep up with the growth of the business.

After researching several companies I decided on giving Ensign a try. At first I was a little apprehensive as Ensign didn't seem as big as some of the other companies out there but after researching them a little and seeing what their software could do on "You Tube" I quickly jumped on board. From the minute I agreed to purchase their software - which now, after using it for almost 2 months, I think is very fairly priced - the Ensign team have been very supportive, informative and helpful. It's always a big jump trying something new but I can honestly say that this software is very user friendly and on top of that the technical support and training given has been excellent. For me - the best thing about this software is that once you get used to it you can price up jobs very quickly and if need be edit them as needed. Another huge help is the PDF Take-off. This in of itself is an incredibly helpful tool that makes "taking off" almost fool proof. Many of the larger companies haven't yet rolled this out which is one of the reasons I decided to go with Ensign. Other things I really like are the frequent updates that are designed to help an estimator keep up to date with all of the latest prices and branded materials.

As much as I would hate to help any of my competitors I have to completely endorse Ensign in all that it offers for a business. Before Ensign, I used to look at a huge pile of drawings and think ‘Oh God.’ The time it used to take to look at and print out drawings was so long. Now, overall, from top to bottom, Ensign’s software saves me about 70% of my time, and that makes an amazing difference. Quotes that took me 5 days before now take me less than 2 days, and I’ve only been estimating since January.

Using Ensign’s software, everything is easier, quicker and far simpler. When I first got the software, I seriously got so excited about using the system that I sometimes woke up at 4 am to use it. To anyone who hasn’t tried it, I would say you have to try it. And once you have, that’s it! You’ll be a convert.
